Anne Frank - A History for Today

May 01, 2023 to May 31, 2023

I want to go on living even after my death! The Diary of a Young Girl, Anne Frank, April 4, 1944

In honor of Anne Frank Day and Jewish American Heritage Month, Anne Frank LA presents the international traveling exhibit, Anne Frank - A History for Today, featuring 32 beautifully illustrated panels with English-Spanish text telling the story of the Holocaust and the Second World War through the experience of Anne Frank and her family.

Anne Frank Day, May 12

Inspired by Anne Frank's story, then 10-year-old Olivia Prince, an Anne Frank LA student-activist, approached Councilmember Paul Koretz (CD5) about declaring an official day in Anne's honor. And he agreed. In April 2022, The Los Angeles City Council adopted a resolution declaring May 12 (the birthday of her father, Otto Frank) to be Anne Frank Day in the City of Los Angeles. The day honors Anne and the 1.5 million children who perished during the Holocaust.

Anne Frank LA is proud to be a local partner of the Anne Frank Fonds, Basel Switzerland, which was founded by Otto Frank in 1963 to protect the rights and legacy of Anne's works and the Frank family assets. AFLA thanks The Anne Frank Center at the University of South Carolina, the Anne Frank Center USA New York, and Anne Frank House, Netherlands for permission to exhibit the panels at the Central Library For more information, visit annefrankla.org.
