The center provides emergency food and homeless support services for single women and housing for homeless mentally ill and/or adult women in the Skid Row area of Los Angeles. DWC is not an overnight shelter. DWC does have a job training program.

Housing Services

To explore housing options, please come to the Day Center (located at 442 S. San Pedro St., Los Angeles) to sign up to meet with a case manager.  

Day Center's Hours of Operation
Monday – Friday: 6 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday : 7 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Holiday Hours: 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.
 
Health Clinic Services
On-site clinic appointments are available on Tuesdays and Fridays from 8 am to 4 pm. Sign up for clinic appointments with a case manager or a health team member on Tuesdays and Fridays from 9 to 11 am at the Day Center.
 
Meals
Meals are served three times a day, seven days a week. Breakfast at 8 am, lunch at noon (except on the first Thursday of every month, when lunch is served at 11 am), and an afternoon snack at 2 pm.
Please note: doors close at 7:45 am for breakfast and 11:45 am for lunch, so plan to arrive before those times in order to participate in meal service.
 
Rider Relief Transportation Distribution Program
Coupon booklets for discounts on Metro TAP passes are distributed for Senior/Disabled, Student, and Regular Riders. Participants must bring the following documents to receive a discount booklet: ID, Pay check stub, W-2, Medi-Cal card, Medi-Care card, Lifeline, reduced-fare lunch receipt, or other proof of income.
 
RRTP Distribution Hours: Every Wednesday at 9-9:30am
 
Tokens: Tokens are only given out to Downtown Women’s Center participants. Participants must show proof of an appointment to receive tokens.
 
Showers
The Day Center has shower and laundry facilities available Monday through Friday from 6 am to 4 pm, and weekends from 7 am to 3 pm. Walk in to sign up for a shower time. Female only.
